5/2 odds for Manchester City to win the 2013-14 Premier League
The English Premier League is well underway and while there are still plenty of matches left to be plaid, the results so far are beginning to paint a picture and it seems that it shows Manchester City holding the cup in May 2014, according to major bookmakers.
As of now, Arsenal is in the lead with 34 points, followed by Chelsea with 14 and with Manchester City coming in at number three with 28. The ranking 14 matches into the league would normally reflect the strongest team and this should reflect in the betting odds, but it seems that Manchester City has won the hearts of bookies around the world. The six points between Man City and the Gunners don’t seem to raise any major concerns.
Manchester City are 5/2 favorites to win the 2013-2014 English Premier League. Chelsea remains a tough competitor for the title, with online bookmakers giving 9/2 odds for the Gunners to raise the trophy. Chelsea also has a good shot at the title as of now and bookies will offer a 3/1 return if this happens.
One of the main reasons why City is considered the best team in the league right now is that it has the best scoring figures and a goal differential of +25, while Arsenal only has +17. The aggressive style of the blue side of Manchester has certainly stood out this season and it is expected for it to continue over the months to come.
With that being said, the line is quite interesting considering that Man City has lost to three of the worst teams in the English Premier League in Aston Villa, Sunderland and Cardiff; the last two having 9,000/1 odds to win the trophy in 2014. While it also got great results against top teams, the inconsistency can easily take its toll across the 38 matches every team has to play.
Betting on the underdogs
Gamblers would probably enjoy the odds offered for the defending champions as Manchester United has 10/1 odds to win its 14th title. Considering that United is now around the middle of the pack with 22 points, it is safe to say that it remains one of the premier teams in the league and the ranking can change drastically with more than half of the season still to come. It is definitely a bet that deserves some consideration.
Liverpool is closer to the top but lower down the betting list as bookmakers give the Reds 12/1 odds to go all the way. Liverpool started off the season quite well and is now fourth with 27 points, but the odds can drop even more since Daniel Sturridge is out for around 6-8 weeks.
After this point, the odds get very low and the remaining teams have really small chances of winning the EPL. Tottenham is at 60/1 while now being ninth in the league and Everton has 100/1 odds to hold the trophy despite being fifth with 27 points. Options to burn your money on super long shots are also available in Newcastle (1,000/1), Aston Villa (2,500/1), West Ham (5,000/1) and more, with the odds going as low as 9,000/1 for 6 teams.
